Marseille – the home of bouillabaisse combines French joie de vivre with culture and great food. We took the Lufthansa Aluminium Collection trolleys off to spend a single day in this beautiful Mediterranean city. Be inspired by our tour guide and discover selected products for your journey.
Breakfast and old-town vibes

Breakfast and old-town vibes

Before embarking on our magical mystery tour, we fortify ourselves with a delicious, delightfully presented breakfast at Café Deïa. Satisfied, we meander through the steep alleyways of the neighbouring old-town quarter Le Panier, past wild flowers and colourful street art, little boutiques, fashionable galleries and secluded cafes.

Culture and architecture

Culture and architecture

The first stop on our route is Marseille’s most popular tourist attraction: the Palais Longchamp. We marvel at this spectacular building with its imposing water features and walk through the semicircular portico. From here it’s just a 20-minute walk to the Cathedral of Marseille. Impressed by the sheer size of this monumental building, we decide to take a look inside. We then continue to the Vieux Port – the beating heart of the city. Yachts bob in the sparkling waters as we stroll along the promenade around the harbour. Extensive renovation work here has turned the entire area into a pedestrian zone with many cafes and restaurants; just the sight of the aromatic plates of food is enough to make our mouths water…

Lunch break and a sea view

Lunch break and a sea view

We walk along the turquoise water to the restaurant Peron, one of the many excellent culinary establishments Marseille has to offer. Needless to say, we know exactly what to order in the home of bouillabaisse! The traditional fish soup and other local delicacies taste amazing, especially when combined with the breathtaking views over the bay of this port city.

Coastal panorama and sunset

We want to see the sea so we set off for Port de Malmousque, one of Marseille’s many bays. On the way there, we marvel at the beautiful coastal panoramas that open up before us. However, we’ve saved the highlight of our magical mystery tour until the very end: a visit to the Basilica of Notre Dame. We have to climb 161 metres of steep steps up the mountain, but once at the top we’re rewarded with a breathtaking view of the city and the sea. We decide to stay here and watch the sunset.
