Ziegler Freud Whisky Distillers Decade, 0.7 l, 43.0% ABV, Germany

This whisky spent its first twelve months maturing in barrels made from Spessart oak and German chestnut. It then spent nine years in fine bourbon barrels with the traditional "alligator char". The climate around the Ziegler distillery's barrel stores, right on the banks of the River Main, gives this whisky its power. This single malt gets its characteristic Freud whisky flavour from being finished off in barrels of "Alte Zwetschge" brandy. Full-bodied notes of dried fruit and dark chocolate meet ripe lemons, roasted malt and vanilla-ey forest honey.
